ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of parental involvement on the academic achievement of 11th standard commerce students. The independent variable, parental involvement, was measured using a tool constructed and standardized by the investigator. The dependent variable, achievement in commerce, was based on the students’ quarterly examination marks. The study adopted a survey methodology. A sample of 1100 11th standard commerce students from 24 higher secondary schools in the Madurai Revenue District was selected using stratified random sampling. Statistical techniques such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA were used to test the hypotheses. The results revealed that parental involvement significantly contributed to the academic achievement of the students. The study highlights the importance of strengthening home–school partnerships to enhance student interest and create child-friendly learning environments.
