Construction and Validation of an Instrument for Identifying Stress Coping Strategies of Teachers Working in the Schools in Tamilnadu

Portia, R.
ABSTRACT
The researcher, having felt the need for an instrument to study the Stress Coping Strategies of teachers, undertook this project. As the researcher was more interested in identifying how teachers adopt coping strategies when confronting stress-causing situations rather than how they merely manage stress, the instrument was designed to measure four categories of coping strategies: AVOID THE STRESSOR, ALTER THE STRESSOR, ADAPT TO THE STRESSOR, and ACCEPT THE STRESSOR. The instrument was constructed in the form of a Situational Test. It has been validated and its reliability has been established.
