Relationship between Test Anxiety and Academic Achievement of Secondary School Students

Komala, A. H.
ABSTRACT
The present era is an age of anxiety; school students experience a high level of anxiety due to academic pressure, expectations from parents, fear of examinations, competition, and social factors. Excessive anxiety may affect academic achievement negatively, although a reasonable level may motivate better performance.

The study focuses on secondary school students who have not previously encountered intense anxiety-provoking situations. Test anxiety among 350 students was assessed using the Test Anxiety Tool developed by Dr. V. P. Sharma (1978). The study identified the level of test anxiety and examined its influence on the academic achievement of secondary students.
