Dr. Mangai, K., & Dr. Sheeja Vayola, V.
ABSTRACT
This research paper deals with the need for enhancing the practices for promoting environmental sustainability. The UNO emphasizes the effective engagement of the public to address major environmental concerns and promotes the development of regional strategies on education for sustainable development. An e-survey on practices for promoting environmental sustainability was conducted across India to understand the practices of common people and their concern for the environment. A questionnaire on environmental sustainability practices was developed by the researchers, and the survey was conducted through online mode. SPSS was used to analyze the data. The findings revealed a significant difference in environmental sustainability practices with respect to gender, favouring girls, and also with respect to occupation. Environmental education aims at creating awareness and developing responsible behaviour towards the environment, fostering commitment to conservation of nature and its resources, and emphasizing real-life relevance of environmental problems and solutions.
