Education in India stands at a pivotal juncture, shaped by rapid technological change,
evolving learner’s needs, and a renewed emphasis on holistic development. The present issue
of the Indian Educational Researcher responds to this context through five scholarly
articles
that collectively explore how teaching learning processes can be strengthened. Focusing on
academic support, pedagogical innovation, constructive classroom practices, parental
involvement, and learner’s diversity, the contributions reflect a shared commitment to
quality, equity, and relevance across school and higher education settings.
The article on The Role of Academic Support in Shaping the Career Competency of Commerce
Students highlight the vital connection between institutional support systems and students’
readiness for the world of work. At a time when employability skills, adaptability, and
career awareness are as important as subject knowledge, the study shows how mentoring,
guidance services, and structured academic assistance significantly influence career
competencies. It reinforces the view that academic and career success is not solely an
individual pursuit but a collective responsibility that educational institutions must
intentionally plan and sustain.
Looking ahead, on Pedagogical Innovations in 2025: Transforming Teaching and Learning, offers
a future oriented perspective on emerging instructional practices. Emphasizing learner
centered approaches, technology integration, and innovative strategies beyond traditional
lecture methods, the article underlines the evolving role of teachers as facilitators of
learning. By aligning pedagogy with contemporary realities, it calls for classrooms that
nurture creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning skills, those essential for
students in a rapidly changing world.
Complementing the vision on Transforming Learning Dynamics: Constructive Approaches for
Empowerment of Classrooms, examines constructivist and participatory practices that position
learners as active contributors to knowledge construction. The article stresses that
meaningful learning occurs when students collaborate, reflect, and connect concepts to real
life contexts. Such constructive approaches not only deepen academic understanding but also
foster confidence, autonomy, and social responsibility qualities central to personal
development and democratic citizenship.
Education, however, extends beyond classroom boundaries. The article on the Role of Parental
Mediation in Shaping Students’ Attitude, draws attention to the significant influence of
parents on students’ academic and personal growth. By exploring how parental guidance,
monitoring, and emotional support shape attitudes toward learning, the study highlights the
importance of strong home school partnerships. It reminds educators that positive
educational outcomes are best achieved when families and schools work together nurtured,
motivated, balanced, towards promoting responsible learners.
Adding a valuable learner centered and regional perspective, the article on A Study on
Learning Styles Among High School Students in Kerala explores the diversity of learning
preferences among adolescents. Recognizing individual differences in learning styles is
essential for inclusive and effective instruction. The article encourages teachers to adopt
flexible and responsive teaching strategies that address varied learner’s needs, reduce
barriers of learning and enhance engagement and achievement.
Together, the five articles present a coherent message on effective education is
multidimensional. It requires robust academic support systems, innovative and constructive
pedagogies, meaningful parental involvement, and sensitivity to learner’s diversity. As
educators and researchers, these studies invite reflection on existing practices and
encourage a renewed commitment to student centered education. The Indian Educational
Researcher is pleased to present this collection, which we hope will stimulate dialogue,
reflection, and informed action among teachers, teacher educators, researchers, and
policymakers, contributing to meaningful transformation in Indian education.
